Surprise! Valkyrie Anatomia looks like a solid, little JRPG

When word got out that the prequel to the legendary Valkyrie Profile was going to be a mobile game on iOS and Android, the classic JRPG crowd let out a deep and defeated sigh. This RPG franchise, famous for its brutal time limits and deep, complex battle systems, would almost assuredly be missing the point on the casual, mobile crowd.

At least, that was the general thought moving into Valkyrie Anatomia: The Origin. With the game available now in Japan, I would say that the damage is far less than any had anticipated, as seen by this gameplay…

That’s an impressive number for an app that’s been available for less than two months. During that time, Nintendo says over 20 million “Miifotos” have been saved. A Miifoto is a small, sharable images of user’s in-game avatar, designed to be shared on social networks like Twitter and Facebook.

Last week, Mitsubishi admitted that it had cheated fuel economy tests for some 625,000 vehicles. Now, the Japanese carmaker says its history of improper testing goes back 25 years. It’s unclear at the moment how widespread this manipulation was, or how many vehicles it affects, but the backlash against Mitsubishi has been swift. The company has lost half its market value since it first admitted fault (roughly $3.9 billion), and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has ordered the company to re-test its vehicles.
