2017 Kia Sportage grabs Top Safety Pick+ award from IIHS


The result shouldn’t really come as a big surprise taking into account sister model Hyundai Tucson also received a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS. Compared to its predecessor, the new Sportage has made the jump from a poor to a good rating in the small overlap crash test. In the old one, the parking brake pedal was pushed 16 inches forward, thus seriously affecting the driver’s space. In the 2017 Sportage, the intrusion of the parking pedal stood at just six inches.
